Kybella® is an amazing way to treat the effects of a double chin. It’s a quick and effective treatment that requires little to no downtime. That’s why we wanted to take few moments to answer the most commonly asked questions Dr. Robb gets about Kybella and taming the appearance of the dreaded double chin.
Is Kybella Safe?
Yes! Even though it might sound too good to be true, this injectable treatment is an extremely safe and effective remedy for the double chin. Cleared by the FDA in 2015, Kybella uses a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, which is already produced by the body to break down fat cells. Side effects are generally mild and include some swelling, bruising, and tenderness. But, as always, be sure to discuss any concerns you may have with Dr. Robb prior to treatment.
How Many Injections Will I Need?
During your Kybella procedure, Dr. Robb will thoroughly evaluate the area and administer very strategic injections at precise locations underneath the chin and along the jawline. As far as how many treatments you’ll need, that also depends on your personal needs and goals. He will likely recommend a series of appointments that will be scheduled over the course of several weeks to months. For the best results possible, he may suggest anywhere from two to six treatments.
Is Kybella Better Than Liposuction?
While Kybella and liposuction take different approaches to subduing submental fullness, they both provide proven and consistent results. But one of the big advantages to Kybella is that it’s a non-surgical procedure that only uses injections to obtain results. This is a huge plus for our patients since it doesn’t carry the same risks as a more intensive treatment like ProLipo™ (although ProLipo is much less invasive than traditional liposuction). You can discuss your options with Dr. Robb to see if Kybella is your best bet for reducing a double chin.
What About Other Non-Surgical Double Chin Treatments?
When it comes to diminishing the double chin, you do have options. And they aren’t just limited to the reduction of the fat with Kybella or ProLipo. That’s because it’s not just fatty tissue that contributes to an unattractive double chin. Loose and sagging excess skin can also become an issue during the aging process, compounding the problem. If that’s the case, you may benefit from a helping hand with another rejuvenation procedure. This is where the SkinTyte II™ comes in. It can help to tighten and firm up any drooping skin, providing you with dramatic results.
